Food insecurities in the United States have become a major concern.
This concern has erupted from the natural destructions of our farm lands in the United States. Farmers have lost farm land and crops due to the natural disasters that have occurred in the United States this year. Hurricanes, excess and contaminated water and diseased meats have caused food insecurities.
Hurricanes have become the source of food securities in the United States at the present time. Hurricanes have hit Florida and ruined the citrus crops causing a limited production of the citrus crop. The hurricanes are also responsible for a drop in the sugar crop causing a shortage of sugar. Another problem that the hurricanes have caused is the contaminated water that has occurred due to the floodings.
Mad Cow Disease is another major food insecurity. The Mad Cow Disease affects the cow’s central nervous system. This has caused the FDA to reject approval of the sales of cow’s meat. In return it has affected the cattle industry. Farmers cannot sell the meat causing them to loose money and have a surplus of cows that are useless. The Mad Cow Disease has already affected the beef industry. Japan and Canada do not want to buy the US beef products because of the disease. This will cause an embargo on the meat industry due to the containimation.
Farmers are also affected by food insecurities. They are loosing their farm lands and crops, therefore, causing a loss in their family income. Without the farmers in the United States, we would have to resort to paying higher prices for fruits and vegetables along with all the other comities that we use. These natural disasters have already caused an increase the prices that we pay.
Healthy farm lands are a solution to our food insecurities. Controlling water levels, producing healthy meats and farming good soils that produce healthy crops are all ways to help us deal more comfortable with our food insecurities in the United States.
